We fit in a hike at Kings Canyon before heading 5 hours to Alice Springs. We have a choice of either the Canyon hike or the River hike. I go for river because at the beginning of the Canyon hike is a climb up a cliff face (yeah right). The whole canyon is this beautiful rich, red rock that makes up the area. This whole area is called the "red center". The sand, the rocks, boulders, even the sacred sites are all this beautiful rich red color.
The river hike was very beautiful, but it was not as easy as it sounds. The whole walk was jumping rock to rock with a few boulders thrown in, once you got to the end, there was a platform set up to look down to a very scenic gully. From there you could see the hikers on the ridge above. I make it back without breaking an ankle and off we go to Alice Springs.
